Adsense Ad Limit After Traffic Spike on Site

My Adsense account got Ad Serving is Limited due to increase in traffic

My Google Adsense account was flagged with “ad serving is limited” (ads limitation) after sudden traffic spike on my site. Google Analytics shows 3x increase in traffic. Though I get organic traffic, many referrals from social media sites like facebook and X. My site follows all adsense policies too. How long those ad serving limits usually last? I’m seeing hardly one adsense ad per page or many pages don’t even serve ads at all now. Before I had 5-6 ads per page. Is there anything I can do to lift of this ad serving limits? I tried to write to Adsense support in their forum but not got any solution.

  1. This problem occurs when Adsense detects un-natural traffic or fake traffic on your site and then it flags your account with “ad serving is limited” message and then it serves very less ads. There is nothing an adsense publisher can do to lift this ad serving limit. But the solution to this is: Keep the adsense code as it is, start publishing more helpful content and add more pages to your site. Also add WAF (firewall) or if you are using CDN like Cloudflare or Bunny then filter your incoming traffic and also watch raw log files on your cPanel / plesk or directadmin control panel. This will help you finding any unnatural or fake traffic. You should patch it. Either block such traffic on IP-level, or ASN level if possible. After 3-4 weeks Adsense will re-validate your site’s traffic automatically and lift the ad serving limit. It may also take 2 months depending on how quickly you mitigate the bad traffic.

  2. Ad-sense imposes ad serving limit on entire account or specific site in your account when it is suspicious about the traffic website is receiving. Adsense publisher can’t lift this limit by contacting Google. Instead, keep the adsense code on all pages, remove low quality pages, and keep a watch on your incoming traffic.
