Buyer made payment for domain but spaceship is waiting for verification
I recently sold domain on spaceship (sellerhub marketplace) and a buyer who was interested in it from past 2-3 months has then bought the domain name from spaceship marketplace. He even paid for the said domain in full yet spaceship has not released the payments to me (seller). Upon contacting them they said they are further waiting for verification from the buyer even after receiving payment (buyer fraud?). What are they verifying? It took more than 24 hours and still its pending! Is is standard practice among domain marketplaces like atom, afternic, sedo, spaceship to verify payments after they’ve made? What is the wait time?
If Spaceship or any other marketplace suspects that buyer has made payment fraudlently using a stolen credit card or with bank account, then even after receiving full payment for the domain name they would ask for buyer verification as an extra step for a secure transaction before transferring the payment to domain seller. This also ensure your valuable domain is not stolen and transferred away! This is also a common practice among most domain aftermarket sites like godaddy afternic, sedo, namejet, atom, snapnames, daaz etc. You can wait for couple of days to let buyer verify their transaction. If it goes well, you’ll receive your payment for the domain sold.
