Looking for Trustname Alternative
After ICANN de-accredited the so-called bulletproof domain registrar Trustname (Fewmoretaps OU) over compliance and DNS abuse hosting lots of phishing and pharmacy domains even my legit .com domains were also affected. I read that Trustname was also hacked and hacker transferred many domains to dynadot and other registrar and that Trustname clients also sued them in U.S. court. I have received email to either transfer-out domains from Trustname manually, or wait for ICANN to transfer them out later to other registrar. But I will not be waiting and rather manually transfer them.
Since The Online is quite trusted domain registrar and even DMCA ignored, can I transfer domains from Trustname? Which other registrars are best alternatives to Trustname? I need secure, reliable, and privacy-friendly registrar. Please don’t recommend Nicenic or other Chinese providers.
Sorry to know about “Trustname”. Seems they are a scam. I just read their trustpilot reviews and found most customers’ domains got stolen, accounts vanished, illegal domain transfers and more. Even I read the news about some Oath research company which sued Trustname and its owners. No domain registrar is bulletproof. That’s just a marketing gimmick. Once DNS abuse complaints are not answered or sorted out then ICANN bans and de-accrediteds such domain registrar as they did with Trustname/Fewmoretaps OU. Better go with more main-stream and reliable domain registrar who truly keeps domain-registrant’s privacy secure without doing anything illegal.
Yes. the-online.com is DMCA ignored for domains and web hosting but still abides to all rules and regulations. The Online is not a bulletproof domain registrar but they are very privacy-friendly. yes you can transfer domain name registered with Trustname to the-online.com easily. .COM, .NET and even most ccTLDs can be transferred. Plus you’ll get additional-year of free domain registration when you manually transfer domain from Trustname to The Online. Pricing at the online is also quite cheaper than trust-name.
the-online.com is quite good privacy-friendly and secure domain registration provider. I’ve domain names related to vape, e-cigarette, pepitides, and even few about casino affiliates and medicines which are all registered with the-online.com since last six years and never received any suspension. Domains come with whois privacy, and also account level privacy too. You also get status alerts by SMS/text as an option. Other privacy friendly provider are Subreg/Gransy. Gandi.net was also good and even Internet bs. But since Internetbs was acquired by UK based registrar group they are not better option for privacy friendly type registrar.
Yeah I am also hosting domains and even got cpanel hosting and a vps from the-online.com. Just 6 month back I transferred out successfully from trustname.com. Support from the-online.com is quite friendly and attentive. I’ve few domains with nicenic and will transfer them here later.
advertising as “bulletproof registrar” is acutally a shaddy business practice. All domain registrars who sell gTLDs like .com, .org, .xyz, etc have to follow ICANN rules. Yes, a registrar can be privacy-friendly and more liberal like the-online.com or shinjiru from Malaysia. You can try EasyDNS from Canada.
The-Online.com is also good for registering adult niche domain names. I’ve got dedicated server from nforce in Netherlands where I host adult sites and domains I registered with The Online. Earlier they were with Openprovider in EU.
Good to avoid chinese providers like nicenic, ourdomains, dnspod/tencent, cdmon, todaynic/eranet, etc.
no one talked about Njalla as alternative to trustname. They are as shaddy as trustname and often credited for suspending domains.
