Top SEO mistakes to keep away from in year 2025
I’ve done consultation to lots of clients as well as SEO experts in this industry since last 10 or more years. SEO evolves every year and this is what I advice to my clients and peers about top SEO-mistakes to avoid in year 2025. This suggestions are for all bloggers, webmasters, content developers!
- Buying Cheap Backlinks in Bulk: Never buy bulk backlinks for cheap from marketplaces like Fiverr or BlackHatWorld, mostly the sellers will provide profile and comment backlinks that will do more harm to your money site. Also these cheap bulk backlinks originates from PBN (private blog networks) which link out to thousands of irrelevant sites including casino and adult sites too therefore diluting the backlink value (or pagerank) your site will receive. Try to get niche-relevant, contextual backlink from high authority websites like the-online.com or other news, media websites like forbes, business insider, cnn, time of india, etc.
- Publishing RAW AI Content: Do not publish AI generated content, including blog posts, images, articles that are 100% AI written. Search engines will rather de-value your AI generated content if no human input is found. Machine generated article can easily be detected and penalized. Instead, written artlices, post, product description manually while taking inputs and guidance from AI like chatgpt, gemini, or perplexity, etc.
- Ingnoring User Experience on-site: If you website or blog loads slow, the web page includes huge image files or other media, too many google adsense ads, etc. or your TTFB is quite high, then Google and Bing will not rank your pages higher in SERP. Google gives much important to UX, fast loading sites where helpful content is published. Try to use fastest web hosting for your sites. I recommend try web hosting from The-Online.com that offers 4x faster speed even on shared hosting platform!
- Neglecting On-page Optimization: Always include meta title, meta description tags, OpenGraph tags for social media, and relevant schema markup. I’ve seen 35% more improvement in ranking on Google for websites where I added right schema markup and meta title and H1 tags. You can either add schema manually or via wordpress plugin. Also add clear, un-culttered navigation menus and interlink your articles to other relevant articles on your site. This will help to signal googlebot and bingbot and even AI bot to crawl and index your new and relevant posts and cite them when someone searches for it.
- Over-optimizing Anchors: Do not over-optimize the backlink anchor text, whether it is image backlink or text backlink. Use brand name, generic, and partial match anchors too in addition to extact match anchor. There is no clear ratio. But I would recommend at least 50% anchors should only be extact match.
Hat tip: Always keep your site / blog alive with consistent updates. Google, Bing and AI loves sites which are frequently updated with relevant, helpful content that answers search-intent. I’ve seen 20% increase in getting pages crawled and indexed in search engines when I suggested my client webmasters to publish 2-3 articles/post a day.
