Perplexity AI to launches Comet web browser
The Perplexity Comet browser is the newly launched AI browser by Perplexity AI. It has an integrated AI agent that can peform routine task including helping users with web search. The browser is named as “Comet” and is currently available for Perplexity Max subscribers.
The browser aims to challenge the traditional search engines like Google and Bing by offering advance agentic search capabilities. I’ve tried this browser as I am already a Perplexity max subscriber paying $200 a month. This Comet web browser allows users to execute task autonomusly.
The Comet browser is now available on Apple Mac and Windows OS platform. I’ve downloaded their Windows based browser. Its based on Google’s Chromium and is a full AI browser. I think even ChatGPT is also testing their new AI browser which will arrive in market later this year. Right now, the Co-met browser is also available on invite-only basis. Even OpenAI is launching their web browser soon. OpenAI’s browser will reportedly feature a ChatGPT-style interface designed to keep certain user interactions within the AI environment. This could include summarising web content, completing tasks like filling out forms, or performing simple actions on behalf of users – all without needing to navigate away to multiple tabs or websites.
Its a great revolution in web browsers market as well as search market. OpenAI and Perplexity, are entering the web browser market with their own smart, AI-powered browsers, taking direct aim at Google Chrome, which currently rules the internet with more than two-thirds of the global market share. Even Microsoft Edge is at hit by launch of ‘Comet browser by Perplexity’.
Yeah the Perplexity comet browser has AI-driven tools that can help users complete complex workflows with minimal manual effort. Agentic AI refers to intelligent software agents capable of handling multi-step, repetitive tasks autonomously by understanding user intent and context.
I’m also using Comet browser now. Comet has been designed to replace conventional browsing methods through agentic AI that can think, act, and make decisions on behalf of users. What I like about Perplexity browser is that the browsing data stays local, with no AI training from user activity, plus features like ad blocking and multiple privacy modes. Also the conversational AI to summarize content, answer questions, and manage tasks directly on any webpage. I could ask questions such as “summarise this article” or request comparisons, meeting bookings, and more, all without switching tabs or copying text when using this new comet browser by perplexity AI
