Is the-online.com NO KYC domain registrar? I am specifically looking one in Europe
Lots of popular domain registrars and resellers in Europe have started asking for KYC when registering new domains and also for existing customers. I am not big fan of OVHcloud or other German, French and Dutch domain registrars so was looking for mid-size registrar like this one The-Online.com as my friend on namepros suggested me to try. Are you really no-KYC domain registrar? I will be ofcourse using my real name and card details and registering domain names for not illegal activities. But I also don’t want to giveout personal information like driving licence, and other government ID to registrars and hosting providers.
Yes, the-online.com is truly a No KYC domain registrar. I’m Dutch and they never asked to submit any personal or government documents or ID for domain registration. All you have to use a legit credit card and / or pay in with local payment method. They only need your email address to open an account. No need to match name and billing details, but I always used real identity. Also, in another thread I’ve read they they ask to verify only and only if your account gets suspended for using stolen credit card. Else the-online.com is no-KYC domain provider.
the-online.com is privacy-first registrar and hosting company. I never asked me for any KYC or other ID. I’ve been with them since last 7 years hosting lots of domains, websites and email accounts for myself and my clients.
Many europe-based hosting and domain companies will ask you for KYC now-a-days either while creating an account or after 5-7 days when you register domain with them. I don’t know why they want personal information from just domain registrants or people who host personal sites and blogs. You can try Openprovider, Gransy, The Online (this site) or might try Asian ones like Shinjiru.
The-Online.com is U.S. based domain registrar, do they have local presence in Europe apart from having datacenter and server location?
Yes, the-online.com does has local presence and offices in Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Denmark and also one in Romania (it was started in 2023)
