How to clean up and fix the Deceptive Site Ahead warning in Browser?

Hi guys, one of my wordpress site was marked as deceptive by Google Safe Browsing and the chrome browser is displaying message as “deceptive site ahead“. This has blocked visitors from visiting my entire site. I don’t know why it was marked deceptive. It’s been online and has good reputation from last six years. Google search central (console) does not offer any suggesstions about files or webpages that may be questionable. How to remove those files and mark my site safe for browsing? Any tips are welcome. Please help.

  1. May be your wordpress site is either infected by some malware or phishing content. There is no way to manually check each files or newly created files in your site’s directory. The easiest way is to sign up with automated malware removal service. The-Online.com offers such automated scanning and removal of deceptive files and directories on all types of sites including php sites, wordpress, joomla, drupal, magento, etc. Once it removes all malware, you’ll receive a detailed report. Then you can go to GSC and re-crawl the website. Once it finds there is no phishing or malware files or plugins, then it will mark your website as safe for browsing thus ultimately it will remove the deceptive site ahead warning.

  2. Removal of the “deceptive site ahead” page in chrome and google safe browsing is quite easy if you install a word-press firewall which can scan all files inside wordpress. It may miss some though. So you’ll need a premium solution which scans and removes mal-ware or phishing files or links and backdoor pages or scripts. I’ve been using The Online’s web-site security + WAF solution. It’s quite reliable. I’ve like 55 plugins on my eCommerce site and a forum of user generated content too. So this service is quite proactive in scanning files. They also offer one-time removal if your site is infected. try it.

  3. de-ceptive site ahead warning is generated when either or all of the following are true:

Back-links to questionable websites or malicious domains
    Mal-ware infection
    Malicious files
    Phishing pages
    Deceptive content
    Compromised SSL certificates
    Virus infection
    Malicious backdoor code

How to fix this issue? Well, its quite simple:
Install Wordfence Security from the WordPress repository and activate it.
Navigate to Wordfence → Scan → Start New Scan from your WordPress dashboard.
The list of the detected issues will be available in the Results Found section. Click on the Repair All Repairable Files button to fix the corrupted files.

Then request Google to review your site by going to this URL:
Once your site is free from malware, the last step is to send a review request to Google so that the warning is removed.

Or the other way is by going to Google Search Console which provides a direct channel to submit your appeal. Navigate to Security & Manual Actions → Security Issues from the dashboard, then select Request a Review. The request should include information on your actions to resolve the issue.
