Well, my sites are not impacted with this Google August 2026 spam update yet. I run a clean forum about tech and hardware which is greatly moderated. I can see friend of mine who vibe coded AI site got his site tanked yesterday itself few hours after this spam update started.
Yes, this spam update will mostly impact sites which are vibe code and have full AI generated content and posts. Thanks Go-ogle for rewarding editorial, hand-written, helpful content. I can see a slight increase in impressions (ranking) and clicks on my website about cars and automobiles. The traffic increase is around 5% and it could be due to Google spam update tanking AI generated sites and low quality spammy content.
Some Reddit users on r/SEO stated that their sites having AI content got sharply demoted since last few hours. It seems Google spam update is really working this time. Even I hate fully ai generated content, especially articles, which are in no way helpful. I will rather read a blog post written by real human who has first-hand experience.
My Google search console shows some drop in impressions and clicks. Seems my site got hit due to this spam update.
My web-site which got heavily penalized in June started seeing traffic few hours ago. I had migrated it from slow Bluehost to more faster web hosting from The-Online.com just this end of July. The GSC then showed more pages indexed after this switch. Seems, faster hosting speed, optimized servers really help Googlebot
Yup people on seroundtable are also talking about getting their sites hit from this spam update. It seems many of them used AI generated content and created ai vibe coded websites which auto-publish AI content. There is no human input in writing such content.
How to recover from this Google August 2026 spam update?
Google says that: Sites that see a change after a spam update should review our spam policies to ensure they are complying with those. Sites that violate our policies may rank lower in results or not appear in results at all. Making changes may help a site improve if our automated systems learn over a period of months that the site complies with our spam policies.
