Here are some tips that helped me to rank in local SEO on Google SERP
I got boost in ranking in google search for local seo listing when I followed the following guidelines given by my local SEO guru.
- NAP consistency – Are your Name, Address, Phone details 100% identical across all listings (Yelp, local directories, GMB, even random aggregators)? One mismatch can mess with trust signals.
- Local citations and map embeds – Tools like Whitespark or BrightLocal help build out these “local mentions” that Google weighs heavily for map packs.
- Proximity to searcher – This is huge for GMB-based searches. Even if your GMB is optimized, if you’re physically located further from the user than a competitor, Google often favors proximity over authority.
- On-page location signals – Do you have proper local schema? Is your city/region mentioned in H1s, meta titles, image alt tags, etc.? A strong backlink profile won’t help much if Google doesn’t think your page is locally relevant.
- Engagement metrics – Some businesses quietly boost local rankings by getting real customers to click their GMB listing, call directly from maps, or ask for directions. These signals show up as “popularity” in Google’s eyes.
Additonal tip: on-page signals (like exact keyword in titles, headers, and content), local relevance (consistent NAP, location pages), or engagement metrics (clicks, bounce rate). Backlinks alone won’t push you to page 1. Try improving CTR with better meta titles, add local schema, and ensure your GMB and site match perfectly. For agencies, look for ones that specialize in lo-cal SEO for shopping sites/ecommerce store or shopify store. If you have used Website Builder from The-Online.com here, then it already has SEO pack that optimizes your site or online store for ranking higher on page one in local searches, that is, it has inbuilt local SEO which benefits the site to rank on page 1 of google and bing search.
