Local Business SEO – How to Dominate Search Results

Tips on local business SEO that helped me to rank in Google quickly

Hi, I run a local business (local service restricted to specific city). After about one year trying and testing various methods to out rank the competition and dominate search results in google (local pack and standard listing) I use some smart tricks to be on number 1 position. I though I should share my tips to rank local business using SEO (onpage and offsite) to improve rankings.

  1. Get a decent website with structured data (schema markup) on all pages, product and service pages too. Use localbusiness markup.
  2. Host it with any fastest web host like I’m hosting with The-Online.com cPanel hosting. I had migrated from bluehost and within 2 months my ranking improved from page 2nd to page 1st. The only reason I could find was website speed which got drastically improved.
  3. Now, Make a Google Business Profile (GBP / GMB) that matches your site. Add google maps to your site indicating your business address on the map. Embed it for free.
  4. Get real, genuine reviews on your Google business profile. Google values 3 or 4 star reviews more than the 5 star ones. Ask customers to add photos, receipts, invoices if any to prove authenticity. This is the real game for local SEO.
  5. Signals to local citations. Get your brand featured in local newspapers, newsletters, as well as community meetups.
  6. Separate landing pages on your site for each place/city if you have multi-region services or products to offer. Like if you are offering services in 3 cities in a state, then create 3 landing pages for each city.
  7. Online directories listing. Start listing your business in local and national directories like yelp, yellow pages, business directories, chambers of commerce, etc.
  8. Local content. Create blog posts or write articles abou local events, celebrations, etc.
  9. Get social media signals. Post articles on your social media profiles and pages like on facebook, threads, bluesky, x, linkedin, instagram, pinterest, etc.
  10. Get backlinks from your local area government sites, trade associations, etc by subscribing to their yearly membership if any. Good tools for creating backlinks.
  11. Add local language lingo to your pages. Use pictures and images of local monuments, historical buildings, etc.

Following the above steps and proven strategies to optimize my local business for local SEO best practices helped me to reach on number 1 position in google maps, as well as, google local search and thus helped me boost visibility and get more sales. Hope this helps you too. You can comment below your own tips to achieve higher ranking in google / bing SERP. You can also use fast page indexing solutions.
