I recently found out that my new posts on Reddit are not appearing on Microsoft Bing search engine. Checked Reddit’s robots.txt file and found that Reddit blocked Bing from crawling and indexing its content. Thus no new posts appear on Bing search. If you use the site parameter as site:reddit.com you’ll see all results are empty.

Yeah, it seems Reddit blocked bing search when they updated their robots.txt file on July 1st, 2024. I had gone through Reddit’s robots file and found they are now blocking every bot, AI bot, bingbot and other search engine bots except Google. Since they have deal with Google and get paid they’re not blocking googlebot but yes, Bing got blocked.
It’s good for small businesses and blog owners now that their websites would gain more coverage, impressions and clicks on Bing as Reddit results were just poping for even wrong queries on Bing.
