Recently while searching on google I clicked on a subdomain on neocities.org which redirected me to a scam site. It happened 3-4 times. I thought neocities was hosting only personal or hobby sites, but some spammers are using neocities’ sudomains to redirect to casino type site. Yeah.. since neocities.org is a free website hosting service like geocities it has lots of scam and spam sites hosted. all you need is to report those URLs or subdomains to their support. I suppose they’ll look into it and quickly takedown such sites. Moreover, neocities only allows personal sites not marketing or business sites.
all subdomains from neocities.org are marked as suspicios/malware in my anti-virus. Thus it automatically blocks neocities.org domain. Glad I am safe. You never know you’ll brow a scam/phishing site on neocities or other such free platforms. Its a haven for spammers to plant scam sites or sneaky redirects.
