Buying web hosting from Indiamart seller is reliable or scam?
I am from India and have few domains registered with The Online and Bigrock since last few years. Recently I came across web hosting offers listed on Indiamart site by some local sellers. Are those sellers legit? Has anyone bought Indiamart web hosting services either in their city or from other city? I don’t seem to trust those sellers actually as they list only phone number and I’ve to pay via indiamart.com website. Few sellers just asked to send payment via UPI and contact them on Whatsapp. This doesn’t seem trustworthy.
While Indiamart doesn’t sell web hosting on its own, its like a marketplace where web hosting sellers list their businesses and hosting services or hosting plans. There are many Indiamart website hosting sellers which may be good or legit and you can only check it after buying services from them. I will not recommend to buy yearly web hosting from Indiamart sellers. If anybody of them is willing to offer a monthly plan then sure you can try it. But again, Indiamart sellers seem not trustworthy much as there is no footprint on the web. Better stick with established and mid-size Indian web hosting companies like The-Online.com, Bigrock, Bluehost, or bigger one like Godaddy or OVH than trying small local vendors who may quite business anytime or may be fraud listing.
Even if you want to purchase web hosting from Indiamart.com sellers or even their verified sellers, always pay via seller’s website. Use credit card so in case of poor quality service from india-mart seller and they don’t respond you can chargeback and get refund. Else, better option to buy from legit web hosting providers in India. You can choose local hosting company.
I don’t find Indiamart web hosting packages to be legit. There may be some verified sellers but last time I purchased from such seller they first provider wrong web hosting plan, and when it got corrected they speed was quite slow. They said they’ve server in Delhi and Mumbai but it was oversold and seem to have network problem. After two months of hosting with them, I just shifted to Squarebrothers and then to cloud on digitalocean
You’ll find lots of small, one-person run website hosting providers on Indiamart or other marketplaces in India like Justdial. Make sure the seller has same plan listed on his website and a shopping-cart and login area on his website, then only purchase. No point in purchasing webhosting from sellers who don’t have online presence and just list their hosting packages. It may look cheap pricing but certainly not good to host production sites or serious projects.
I would advice to avoid sellers from Indiamart and Justdial. Most of them are unreliable. Even buying web hosting from Fiverr seller is questionable in terms of legitness, reliablity for a long term. Remember no one changes hosting provider often. Most customers stick with one provider for 3-4 years, so choose reliable company which has expertise in hosting. Don’t just go for reviews, or verified badges. It’s means nothing. I’m hosting my wordpress sites here at the-online.com since last 5 years and quite satisfied from their service and support. I’ve VPS from Godaddy India and its also working without any intruption – moreover I feel secure that my sites are in safe hands.
buying from Indiamart is not scam but its not reliable. Last time I bought hosting and domain from sellers in Hyderdabad and Delhi, they just went out of business after four and six months respectively. They did offer low cost than what general, established hosting providers but nowhere it came near the quality what big Indian hosting providers offer. If you already have domain names registered with Bigrock and The-Online.com, then better purchase hosting from them.
