Google Spam Update Just Got Released
After the Google December 2024 core update rollout got complete on the next day Google released its December 2024 spam update, aka, Google Spam Update, on 19th December.
This spam update is pointed towards search spam on google search engine. According to their official post this update does not address link spam or other kinds of spam. The updade applies globally and to all languages including English, German, etc. The rollout will take up to 1 week to complete. Sites that violet google spam policies are getting hit and tanked in SERP. Most sites engaged in search engine spam are seeing that their web pages are deindexed or the entire site getting demoted. I have to point to fellow site owners and bloggers that this is the 7th Google search algorithm update we had in 2024, including four core updates and now three spam updates.
How your websites are affected? There is lots of discussion on reddit (r/SEO) and even on webmaster world forum. From my personal experience I can see boost in ranking from this spam update. Not because my site did any modification neither I was involved in search spam, but, those sites with sneaky redirects to casinos or other CPL affiliate offers are seen getting removed from the SERP. Even today I saw few sites that hacked other CMS or HTML editors and installed PDF and redirected to some offer sites are getting de-ranked after this search spam update started.
