Is a footer backlink from aged website good for SEO
I have created a new website using The Online’s website builder. It’s a 50 page website on energy conservation. The site now published and indexed in Google. My friend has aged website in the same niche. It’s a 8 year old site. He has placed backlink in footer of his site pointing to my homepage. Will this footer backlink help SEO of my site? Or do I need to buy backlinks from fiverr or other services like seoclerks, etc? Any insights and your own experiences, or even a case study about backlink is appreciated.
A back-link from a aged domain in a same niche can benefit your SEO. Just use the anchor text in hyperlink. Anchor text should either match your brand name, or Title tag, or the niche of your site.
backlink from homepage carries more authority than from other pages of any site. But backlink will carry more weightage when its placed in upper-part of the homepage than in footer. Google values links placed in starting of the article.
Use of backlink in footer is good and much preferred for SEO purposes. Just avoid putting same backlink in footer on ALL pages of the sites. Google will then de-value it. Better to have single backlink from a single website or domain.
avoid site-wide footer backlinks. 1 backlink from homepage having good amount of natural traffic and page authority (PA) will surely benefit your site in terms of SEO. I’ve seen my site too got a boost and improved search engine ranking poisition from page 3 to page 1 for a particular keyword which I used as anchor text to link my site.
Back-links do matter in SEO even in 2025 and even when there is AIO in search. You can check the web de-sign companies or SE-O backlink sellers web-sites. They have backlinks from their clients sites. So I think footer links will not hurt SEO. Those SEO and web development agencies use such links a lot. Don’t over do it and use various keywords as anchor text. So it will not look spammy.
