Buying Web Hosting on Ebay – Are those Web Hosts Reliable?

Ordering hosting from Ebay for long-term project is good or not?

I’ve stumbleupon a seller on Ebay who is selling cPanel web hosting 15GB space, 500 GB monthly bandwidth for $0.99 a month. I found that hosting deal attractive, but I can’t decide to buy or not to buy from an ebay seller. He has around 150 sales done in last 3 years and there are many negative reviews that he stopped responding to the tickets and servers got too slow after hosting for initial month. So, is buying web hosting plans from persons on ebay is reliable for long-term? I’m not fan of such marketplaces. I had bad experience last year when I bought web hosting via a seller on Fiverr. From where do you buy web hosting for serious projects? How reliable is the-online.com for hosting sites and blogs?

  1. While buying web hosting on ebay or through ebay sellers is not really a bad deal you should stay alert about those web hosting providers as they may vanish and close down after few months. From my personal experience I found two such cpanel reseller hosting sellers closing their hosting within 8-9 months. But they took payment in advance for 2 years. Neither I got refund. So I would not recommend to buy web hosting (digital services) on ebay. I would prefer to purchase hosting from reputed web hosting companies like The-Online.com directly who advertise on google.

  2. Sellers on ebay often sale hosting plans, reseller hosting, etc for a dirt cheap price, take money for entire year and then suspend hosting accounts for no valid reason and then take all money by denying refunds. Have caution if you want to order web hosting from ebay or fiverr seller. Also, they provide quite low-quality web hosting. Neither they are able to provide good support nor solve technical queries. Most e-bay sellers are just one-man company and they oversell the server. I’ve seen 1500+ sites hosted when I purchased from one such seller. He was using 4 core, 8 threads old Intel E3 CPU which are now outdated. Even simple static websites couldn’t load. Forget about hosting wordpress blog. So avoid such ebay web hosting deals.

  3. If not Ebay then which web hosting you’ll recommend? I’m interested to purchase cPanel hosting and Managed WordPress hosting. How good is godaddy, easywp (from namecheap), and anybody using WordPress hosting from The-Online.com?

  4. I’ve used easywp for wordpress hosting in past. It’s really not managed wordpress. Just slow shared hosting. I migrated to The-Online.com’s Managed wordpress hosting and have experienced 5x more fast loading wordpress sites. The price is cheap compared to wp engine or pressable. Good for mid-traffic site. I’m having daily 90K unique visitors and still doing good. If you want cheap cPanel hosting then try special plans from RackNerd here. You’ll get 30 GB NVMe storage, and increase upto 500 GB, daily backups, free SSL, one-click apps, etc. for just $5 a month
