Charleston Crafted site was quite a popular on DIY Home Renovation like woodworking plans, budget-friendly room makeovers that provided tutorial and tips that could help anyone build, craft and renovate their home, kitchen, bathroom easily. Many loved their home decoration tips but their site dropped in Google rankings after Google HCU. In a YT video the owner tell Ahrefs that they’ve lost 75% of the traffic and revenue. Now currently the site receives somewhere like 60K visitors a month as similarweb reports. Charleston Crafted is a home improvement blog created by Morgan and Sean McBride. So what SEO gone wrong on their site? When I visited it found lots of mediavine ads put on every page. You scroll a bit down and you’re greeted with new ad. Is too much of ads placed on single page hurts Google ranking?

Charles-ton Crafted website’s direct traffic is just less than 40% so it seems they are not appearing in google or bing for high ranking search terms for their site’s niche. Earlier they did has traffic for various terms like: food safe wood stain, cat steps for wall, food safe butcher block stain, build triangle shelf brackets, painted stone backsplash, type of cheap wood, etc. Their direct traffic is also just 20% and a high bounce rate plus low page visits like 1.5 pages per visit. This shows people might be leaving that site once reading one single post or article.
