Causes of Indexing Issues in Google Search

What are the causes of indexing issues faced by content creators?

I think the most important cause Google is not going to index your page is low quality content. Content quality has been a important ranking factor for many years, but the introduction of the Helpful Content system has greatly surged its significance. As of now, content lacking originality or relevance is less likely to rank well, or even get indexed. So, be sure to reduce unoriginal, irrelevant content that provides little to no value to site users and/or is created with the primary goal of improving rankings (like doorway pages or scaled content). In particular, this includes AI-generated content or content translated from another language that doesn’t add unique value. What are the other noteworthy causes that webmaster/bloggers/creators face while indexing their webpages and content in google search as well as bing. Let me know what matters the most for quick indexing.

  1. Incorrect canonical tags can lead to page not getting indexed in google search. I’ve seen many creators don’t use correct canon-ical tag. Google will make the decision on its own if you don’t specify which URL to prioritize. This can occasionally result in severe canonical tag issues. For example, it may index the wrong version of the web-page. You can check which canonical google has choosen inside google search console when you use the url inspection too.

  2. sometimes web developers accidently block webpage or folder crawling via robots.txt file. This leads to indexing issues. Many sub-domains or sites on supersite2.myorderbox.com have URL blocking which prevents search engine like google and bing to crawl and index those pages or entire sites.

  3. Blocked resources (like css and java-script files) can make the web-page appear broken to search engines. This prevents Google from fully rendering the page. This can lead to inaccurate indexing and lower search rankings. Also, 5xx errors (server problems) might temporarily slow down Googlebot’s crawling. But if these issues persist, Google may remove previously indexed pages from its search results.

  4. High bounce rates signal to Google that your content lacks value or relevance. Thus google will stop indexing your pages and even de-index them if people don’t visit often. CTR does matter in google search. Site should have bounce rate below 40% on average.

  5. don’t forget the CLP score or page-speed score. Slow website loading times also hurt your Core Web Vitals scores, which directly affect search ranking in Google.

  6. Many CMS use noindex tag. Blocked by noindex tag can also impact on crawling and indexing web page. This is a main issue. I’ve seen wordpress users using SEO plugins like rank math, aioseo, yoast seo, etc accidently ticking or selecting noindex feature thus creating indexing issue in google search console.

  7. if your web-site is infected with malware or some backdoor phishing script, etc. google will remove your site from search results.

  8. Google also allocates a certain crawl-budget to every site. If that is fully utilised then it may halt or skip indexing new pages thus they’ll not appear instantly in search results. Avoid indexing tags and category pages. Block them in robots.txt file so google-bot will not waste crawling budget for your site and important pages like article pages will get indexed faster.

  9. too many redirects can also hinder indexing the page. Goo-gle will not index pages having many redirects 301 or 302. A single re-direct is sufficient and does not look spammy.
