GoDaddy Domain Auctions

How GoDaddy Domain Auctions Work GoDaddy Auctions includes several types of domain listings, including expired auctions, closeouts, Buy Now listings, Offer/Counter Offer listings, and 7-day public auctions. Expired domain auctions allow eligible buyers to place competitive bids on domains that have reached GoDaddy’s expiration auction process. If an expired domain does not receive a winning bid, it may move into closeout, where it can be purchased at a fixed price on a first-come, first-served basis. GoDaddy expired domain auctions are competitive bidding events where eligible users can place bids on expired or expiring domain names listed through GoDaddy Auctions. Expired auctions typically run for 10 days, and the highest bidder at the end of the auction wins the opportunity to purchase the domain, subject to GoDaddy’s payment, delivery, and renewal policies. Winning bidders generally must complete payment within 48 hours, and domains are typically moved to the buyer’s account after payment is received. Bids placed near the end of an auction may extend the auction to give other bidders a chance to respond. What is GoDaddy Auctions? 'GoDaddy Auctions' and related marketplace channels, users can explore expired, expiring, closeout, and aftermarket domain opportunities backed by a trusted name in domains and online business tools. Difference Between GoDaddy Auction and GoDaddy Closeout Listing: Auction listings involve competitive bidding between multiple buyers — the price rises as bidders compete. Closeout listings are fixed-price domains that previously went through the auction process without receiving bids. Closeouts are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are often priced at the minimum bid amount, making them excellent value opportunities. GoDaddy Auction Bidding Increments GoDaddy Auctions uses minimum bid increments that scale with the current auction price. Lower-priced auctions require smaller bid increases, while higher-priced auctions require larger increments. Buyers can also place a proxy bid by entering the maximum amount they are willing to bid, and GoDaddy’s system will automatically increase the bid by the minimum required increment when needed, up to that maximum amount. GoDaddy Buyer Fees GoDaddy Auctions buyers may need a GoDaddy Auctions membership to place bids on expired domains and certain auction listings. Buyers are responsible for the final purchase price, and certain domain purchases may also include the cost of a one-year renewal or transfer. Any applicable taxes, renewal fees, transfer costs, or checkout charges should be reviewed directly on GoDaddy before completing a purchase. Time of Domain Delivery to Buyer in GoDaddy Auctions Delivery timing depends on the auction or listing type. For expired and closeout auctions, GoDaddy displays the estimated delivery date in the buyer's Auctions account under the Won section. GoDaddy notes that payment must be made within 48 hours for expired auction wins, and expired domains are typically transferred to the winning account within 15 days after payment is received. For Offer/Counter-Offer or Buy Now listings, domains are generally delivered within 5 to 20 days after payment is delivered.
