All Neocities sites are removed from Bing search
What happened to Neocities?
It was removed from appearing on Bing.
Recently the static website hosting provider Neocities (neocities.org) has been blocked by Bing search engine. None of the Neocities subdomain where individual users host their sites are appearning on Bing. It seems Bing has removed all neocities.org domain and subdomains.
A query on Bing site:neocities.org returns zero results. Neocities had over 1.5 million subdomains out of which some were indexed in Bing earlier. Bing usually removes free site hosting and free webpage services that may be used for phishing, spamming, or any other abuse. Earlier Bing has removed Cloudflare Pages from its search engine. None of the subdomains and sites created on pages.dev appear in Bing. Similar fate with neocities.org.
Many users have complaining about their Neocities site traffic is down almost to zero visitors a day now. It’s hard to rank in Google. Bing was easier. Even Bing search results were used by other search engines like DuckDuckGo and sites appearing on Bing were visible on AI chatbots like ChatGPT and others.
If you want to regain organic search engine visibility then just get a custom domain name here for less than $1 a month and a shared web hosting plan. You can even host your Neocities site and regain visibility and traffic from Bing and ChatGPT.
Sad that Bing has removed all neocities.org websites from its indexed. It was great alternative to geocities to create free personal web site. But there is one called Nekoweb (nekoweb.org) whose subdomains are still indexed in Bing.
When Bing thinks the webpages do not add anything useful for its users they remove it. Sites offering free web hosting on subdomains mostly have spammy sites hosted or nothing helpful for user query. More serious people host with blogspot (Google) or get subdomain at wordpress.com. At least those get indexed and traffic from Bing. Else, best choice is spending something like $1 a month and get your own .com domain plus shared web hosting. Its more beneficial if you are seriously blogging or having a personal site. Plus with so many SEO tools you can rank much higher in search results. Infact, when I moved my neocities web site to my own domain which I registered here at the-online.com, the same content was ranking on page one in Google search. My neocities.org sites was earlier buried on page 6 or 7. Guess, how much traffic and organic visitors I’ve lost hosting site with neocities.
