My Adsense Earnings Have Gone Down Due to LSCache Guest Mode ON
I am publisher of Google Adsense ads on my site. Recently reading a Litespeed thread on Reddit I found that users recommended to toggle ON the Guest Mode in LScache settings. This indeed helped a little as my TTFB gone down. But, this Guest Mode is loading a webpage twice. Once, the cached copy and again it automatically refreshes with the new dynamic webpage. Due to this Adsense ads are loading twice without user-interaction. This has significantly impacted my Ad-sense. Because the browser requests the page twice in rapid succession first for the cached guest snapshot, then again after the background chec, it triggers the AdSense scripts twice.
Why I stopped using LScahce Guest Mode
The browser executes the AdSense script on the initial “guest” load. When the page dynamically updates or refreshes a split-second later, a second ad impression is recorded. Because the first ad was only rendered for milliseconds, no user could possibly see or click it. This artificially doubles your total impressions while your clicks remain static, mathematically tanking your Click-Through Rate (CTR).
AdSense algorithms are highly sensitive to artificial impressions. A recurring pattern where a user registers an ad impression, immediately aborts it, and registers a second one looks identical to bot-driven impression fraud. Google routinely flags this behavior as Invalid Traffic, which leads to end-of-month revenue clawbacks, temporary ad limits, or adsense account suspension.
It has destroyed viewability scores. AdSense tracks your “Active View” metric, which measures the percentage of ads that are actually viewable on a screen for at least one second. The phantom first load completely ruins this metric. Advertisers bid less on sites with low viewability, which drives down your overall Cost Per Click (CPC) and RPM.
What I did to stop Adsense ads loading twice due to Guest Mode On?
First, I tired to delay javascript execution. I configured the plugin so that adsbygoogle.js script is delayed until there is user interaction (such as a mouse movement, click, or scroll). This ensures the double-load sequence settles entirely before AdSense is ever called.
Second, I implemented the above solution but still saw adsense ads generating double requests so I just put turn Guest Mode off in LS-cache of Litespeed. A slightly slower initial Time to First Byte (TTFB) is preferable to losing your monetization via an AdSense ban.
