Can some explain about DNS hijacking?
My domain name is not correctly resolving and some different site is show when I type domain in my browser. I had a cloudflare account earlier and now I don’t have access to my account but my domain is being redirect to another site. A friend of my said I could be dns hijacking. Can someone explain me about this and also how to resolve?
When you register a web-site with a domain registrar like The-Online.com or godaddy, you select an available domain name, and your site’s IP address will be registered with the domain name. For illustration purposes, let us say you choose the domain name BusinessSite.com.
A DNS record contains your site’s unique I-P address, and your domain name is linked to your site’s IP address. In a DNS hijacking attack, hackers gain access to your DNS, then switch your unique IP address to another one. As a result, your domain name BusinessSite.com will point to the attacker’s servers when retrieved via the DNS record.
In other words, when someone types “BusinessSite.com” into Chrome, Firefox, or another browser, they are not taken to your site. Instead, they are routed to a site the attacker controls. If the visitor thinks the site they are seeing is legitimate, they may mistakenly enter sensitive information or download malware.
To resolve this go to your do-main registrar, and change the DNS record nameserver from Cloudflare to another DNS hosting provider. Even your domain registrar offers Free DNS so use that. This way the domain will get disconnected from Cloudflare. Later, you can open a new account with Cloudflare and add this domain and change nameservers to the new one provided by Cloud-flare.
