GeeksForGeeks.org got BANNED on Google

It seems the domain geeksforgeeks got banned!

Finally Google seems to start banning and removing spammy sites either by a manual action in GSC or may be without any written notification. As such it seems tech and course related site geeksforgeeks.org “geeksforgeeks” got completly removed from google search. The site was receiving about 70 million visits a month but not seems entirely vanished according to reddit users who reported it. I had seen they wrote articles about movie downloading sites and birthday wishes which were quite offtopic than there main site’s topic which is coding and tech. This seems to be the reason google might have imposed a manual penalty on geeksforgeeks.org website? What’s your say on it?

  1. Even I read article on linkedin and reddit that geeksforgeeks got deindexed the entire site on google search engine. They might have mis-used their domain authority and started publishing irrelevant content or pure AI content or thin content. Google might have raised the HCU classifier and if that’s true then geeksforgeeks will never come back into google index. But if that’s just a manual action then geeksforgeeks can remove the bad content pages, either add nonindex meta tag or completely remove it by showing 404 error page and re-apply to google. But that’s gonna take weeks or months to re-validate their site from google representative.

  2. I can see the entire geeksforgeeks (GFG) visibility has impacted and even their tutorials, courses, and coding pages are now de-indexed from google. While neither Google nor GeeksforGeeks has released an official statement detailing the cause as of April 7, 2025, the breadcrumbs lead to a few plausible culprits. One theory gaining traction ties the GeeksforGeeks ban to Google’s March 2025 core update, rolled out between March 13 and March 27.

  3. Geeksforgeeks.org site’s articles are no longer appearing in Goog-le search results, effectively deindexing a significant portion of its 36,000+ pages. Traffic plummeted by 44% in a single month of April. GeeksforGeeks may have violated Google’s site reputation ab-use policy, which cracks down on low-quality or third-party content that harms the search ecosystem or it could be seo poisioning – where a site add irrelevant content like articles on birthday wishes, and best movie down-load sites list – which are totally unrelated to the root domain’s topic or niche category. Removing such articles or some low-quality user generated content (UGC) might help GFG to index their site again on Google. Otherwise google might keep it deindexed and de-listed in SERPs.

  4. Geeks-forgeeks got a manual penalty from Google. This is manual action from Google. In last two years we have seen the website had wrote articles on every high-volume keyword apart from their main topic, Programming. They did not stick with website’s core topic so Google took manual action for abusing domain authority.

  5. Google has started issuing manual action for sites, typically large sites like geeksforgeeks and you’ll see many other such sites will be deindexed completly if they abuse their site’s authority. A website whose core topics were python, javascript, linux, coding, programming suddenly starts to rank for movies and entertainment topics – google does not wants that!

  6. It is sad to see geeksforgeeks deindexed from google and completly wiped from Google. 70M organic monthly visitors gone via manual action. Thin content, link spam, and bloat triggered a removal of thousands of pages. Indeed they earlier had helpful content including html codes, javascript tutorials, etc. but since last two years they ventured in different categories like entertainment, movies, and everything which was not related to their original site’s topic. In short they misused their position and authority to rank unwanted content and google entirely removed geeksforgeeks.org domain from its index. I think if they remove thin content, offtopic content they may be able to get into index again. Though the chances are very low.
