The german company COPYTRACK seems a scam
I just received a copyright infringement mail from a German company COPYTRACK which is asking heavy penalty image license fee (about 800 euros) plus compensation cost for earlier usage (700 euros) from me because I’ve used single image from a stock photography site. I’ve seen lots of innocent bloggers were threatened by this copy-track company which collects fees for using so-called copyrighted images and photos. I’ve actually legit purchased an image from stock site by paying them for the usage. So I’m not aware if that’s the stolen or copyrighted image. Anyhow, I’ve contacted my IP lawyer and he advised me that this company copytrack is a big scam and not to worry nor reply their emails or postal mail. Copytrack do not even own or manage the rights of the said image that I’ve used from a stock images site. They confirmed that the original photographer of the image never gave authority to copytrack to act on his behalf to send any legal notice to me or any other users. So if you get email from copytrack demanding to pay for image license, then better do not reply their email and block them off! Then I asked few friends on Reddit and they also got similar notices. There’s lot of chatter on reddit about copytrack scam going on the internet.
