Should I add blog to my online store to increase the product page ranking?
I have been recommended by my SEO consultant to add a blog to my website. My site is about selling electronic products and it just contains product pages, category pages and shopping cart page. As per his advice adding a blog and linking back to product pages will increase the rankings and authority of the product page and also I can get more visibility in terms of organic traffic and refferal traffic from search engines like Google and Bing and third-party sites which could link my informative blog posts. Is that true that by adding a blog to ecommerce site or online store or even a restaurant site can increase the overall domain’s ranking and clicks?
I suppose this is true that blogging with content pages, relavant articles, inforgraphics, images, videos, can add more value to the online store. As I’ve read some reddit and quora articles about it and many SEO experts advice to start a blog on same domain or subdomain and link out internally to product pages which enhances visibility and boosts ranking.
Indeed adding a blog will enhance your search engine visibility and even AI visibility as it will provide boost to product pages and also individual blog posts and articles will rank for long-tail keywords. Since your site is about electronic products you can publish relevant articles on topics covering best 5 electronic items, or how a certain product is beneficial for customer’s hourhold, etc. It can surely bring more traffic plus your internal pages will rank better.
Blog articles assist in ranking product pages, and internal pages in google and bing. That’s the reason we offer “Blog” feature with our Website Builder and Online Store Builder. The blog is SEO-optimized automatically and suggest best keywords for title tag and headings which helps to rank the blog post and linking from it to relevant product or category page can boost 3x to 4x ranking of those pages.
When you start creating optimised blog content regularly (aim for at least 4 quality blogs a month) that talks specifically about a topic or cluster of topics, you not only drive traffic to those blog posts, but it also has a positive impact on your “money page” rankings i.e homepage, category pages, product pages (assuming these are also properly optimised).
I have a shopify store and it was getting only 130 visits a day for 10 products. Then I created a web blog to write content surrounding my products and how helpful those products were. I also added real reviews and customer feedback to my blog articles. After 6 months I found my blog post highly ranking in Bing and Google and driving traffic to my product and inner pages. It also improved the visibility of main product pages. I saw rankings jump from 10th place to 6th place of some high-value keywords with thousands of searches a month. I suggest that everyone should have a blog either on same domain or buy new domain (like i did for my shopify store) and pointed links to it.
